Our guided ski & snowboard tours range in duration from 7 to 13 nights including accommodation, breakfast, welcome and farewell dinners, lift passes, transfers, transport and guiding.
Whiteroom’s range of tours provides options for everyone; instructional focused Progression tours, resort based Powder tours where we explore the nearby backcountry in Hokkaido and Tohoku, Lift Accessed Backcountry tours, and pure Backcountry tours where you’ll earn your turns on the highest mountains in Hokkaido!
Some tours we run only once, while most tours have several dates to fit in with your schedule.
SKIING AND RIDING ABILITY
We are often asked what ability is needed to join our Powder Tours and what ‘advanced’ in powder means. As a guide:
Confidence making consistent, controlled turns in trees and deep powder – and have experience doing so.

Progression Tours
Japan’s deep dry powder is unlike anything else, and these tours will help you make the most of it. Whether you are new to deep powder and are hoping for instruction to gain confidence, or just want to enjoy your time on the mountain at a fun pace – we’ve got you covered.
Ability recommendation:
Advanced on-piste, new to powder / high intermediate in powder

Do you charge the piste but struggle in powder? Gain confidence in Japan’s famous snow with our certified instructors and guides. Based in Niseko. SKI ONLY

Enjoy deep powder turns, see all the best runs and refine your technique on this popular tour, from Furano and the surrounding powder belt through to seaside Otaru.
Powder Tours
Are you ready to chase fresh powder all day? Join our guides as we hunt out the deepest pow at each resort: great tree runs, powder fields, pillow zones, hidden valleys, short bootpacks to the ridgelines, and backcountry runs with easiest way back to piste. These tours are a true powder marathon!

Our most popular tour, and for good reason! Based in Furano you’ll be chasing deep fresh turns all day in a variety of epic terrain including the famed Asahidake.
10 NIGHTS / 8 DAYS GUIDING
A powder hunting road trip from Hakodate in the south, then north towards Rusutsu, Niseko, Moiwa and up to the beautiful seaside city of Otaru.
12 NIGHTS / 10 DAYS GUIDING
A road trip to remember across Niseko, Otaru, Sapporo, Furano and Asahikawa showcasing the best of Hokkaido. Storm chasing at it’s best!
13 NIGHTS / 11 DAYS GUIDING
Our longest tour covering the most terrain. See the best of both islands as you journey across Tohoku and Hokkaido on this epic road trip.
10 NIGHTS / 9 DAYS GUIDING
The last frontier for snow lovers – ancient culture, quiet resorts, fresh powder and endless backcountry. Based in Morioka and Aomori.
Lift Accessed BAckcountry Tours
Get the goods in and outside of the resorts without working too hard for it. We’ll show you our favourite inbound areas at each resort and also access the adjacent backcountry zones using the resort lifts before ski touring/splitboarding out wide for more clean turns. Japan has some amazingly accessible backcountry terrain and these tours make the most of it.

Based in Furano you’ll explore the mountains, resorts and volcanoes of Central Hokkaido and it’s famous deep, dry powder!
8 NIGHTS / 7 DAYS GUIDING
Get even deeper into Japan’s last frontier and tour into the endless backcountry of this wild region. Based in Morioka and Aomori.
Backcountry Tours
With a pure backcountry focus, we’ll be ski touring and splitboarding each day. We’ll choose from a variety of terrain in the region each day depending on the weather and snow conditions. With dry snow all the way from sea level to 2000+ in metres in Hokkaido we have the ability to tour almost anywhere – the options are almost limitless!
Ability recommendation:
Advanced in Powder, experienced with Touring gear (required), good cardio fitness
7 NIGHTS / 6 DAYS GUIDING
Based in world-famous Niseko, get away from the crowds and into the less-visited backcountry areas in the region. There’s a world of options off the beaten track!
9 NIGHTS / 8 DAYS GUIDING
This is our flagship backcountry trip for the seasoned tourer. Endless powder, beautiful terrain and natural onsens to experience from Furano to Niseko.

All the above tours are designed so that as you progress in ability there is always a tour for you. Choose from a variety of destinations and if one is not enough, combine two tours and you’ll get ¥ 10,000 off each tour!
Don’t forget Japan is a cultural wonderland and if you have time we highly recommend stopping in Tokyo before or after your Japan powder tour. Kyoto is also a must if you have more time to spend, ask your consultant for their recommendations.
