Niseko United
Niseko is made up of 4 interconnected resorts. The groomers in Niseko are long and offer fantastic views of Mt Yotei. Coupled with plenty of off piste powder and excellent tree skiing terrain on offer for those looking to ski in the trees or powder for the first time. Niseko has it all, a great resort to explore from December until early May with fantastic restaurants and cafes on or just off the slopes.
Rusutsu
Rusutsu can be found just 40mins drive from Niseko. The terrain on offer across Mt Isola, East and West Mountain is perfect those wanting to take on the many long tree lined groomers or head off into the well spaced tree glades for some fun. If you want to experience the trees or powder for the first time or progress your level then Rusutsu is ideal. With excellent views of Mt Shiribetsu, Mt Yotei, Lake Toya and the Pacific Ocean on a clear day & plenty of Japanese character, it’s a real favourite among locals.
Moiwa
A great little resort close to Niseko that offers good beginner to intermediate friendly terrain with wide groomers. Moiwa is also known to be a little powder haven around Niseko for those wanting to get a little deeper in the powder. Close to the base of Moiwa are some of the best onsens in the Niseko area, which is a great way to end the day. It is even possible to ski to and from Niseko resorts, but a different lift pass is required.
Kiroro
Home to some of the highest snowfall totals in Hokkaido, Kiroro is a vast ski area that has lots of variable terrain for anyone looking to get their Japan powder fix. Expect long runs down from the top of the gondola where you can take advantage of some expert grooming before exploring the side of the trails into countless tree islands and plenty of powder.
Furano
Furano has some of the best quality snow in Hokkaido all season long. With terrain to suit all abilities from long wide groomers to great tree skiing. From the resort you have spectacular views up the valley lined by the mountains in Daisetsuzan National Park (meaning great snowy mountains) on a clear day. Furano delivers an authentic Japanese countryside town experience with restaurants/bars owned and enjoyed by the locals. Furano is where Whiteroom began so it’s a favourite on our must ski or ride list.
Kamui Ski Links
One of Hokkaido’s best ski areas, located just outside Asahikawa and 1hour from Furano. Kamui offers beautiful long wide groomers perfect for all abilities, along with great off piste areas from intermediate to advanced. Combined with very little crowds, great snow and lots of blue bird weather days, there is something here for everyone.
Tomamu
Boasting 29 fantastic groomed runs for beginners to experts set among the beautiful trees and mountains. Tomamu also offers skiers and boarders an awesome park and plenty of off-piste areas to explore. Coupled with a 50 metre wave pool plus indoor/outdoor onsen and an array of quality restaurants, Tomamu really strikes a cord with everyone who visits. An extremely user and family friendly resort.
Sahoro
Located in a similar direction and time frame as Tomamu from Furano, Sahoro feels like your private ski resort on most days. With long groomed trails for all abilities and some lovely gladed tree areas, Sahoro is the perfect area to improve your technique while experiencing another of Central Hokkaido’s quality resorts.
Transport:
- Expect a pick-up at a time from that suits from your accommodation, and drop-off at 4-5pm. We like to leave around 8am to maximise your time on snow.
- If you booked a certain ski resort and the lifts are shut that day we will offer up another resort. If all available resort options are closed we will try to reschedule another day (if available), or offer you a full refund.
When booking this service you are getting:
- Your own qualified and experienced instructor. This means you can have one person or up to four in the group. The fee remains the same so the more people you have the cheaper per person it becomes.
- Niseko/Furano area accommodation pick-up and drop-off and transportation to the ski area. Usually you will have private transportation, but if we have another group heading to the same ski are that day you may need to share. We don’t want to add any more carbon than necessary to the atmosphere.
- Note: extra charges may apply for transportation from areas outside of Niseko/Furano.
Extra transportation charges
Pickup outside of the Niseko or Furano area requires approximately one hour extra travel – charged at ¥10,000 extra. For example picking up in Rusutsu and taking to Kiroro.
Things to remember:
- Mixing skiers and snowboarders – this can be done for Powder Discovery days, and you can request which instructor you wish to have. Please keep in mind your instructor will likely only be able to provide tips in their discipline – ski or board.
- Our Resort Power Discovery day is not Whiteroom Guided day. We will stay within resort boundaries at all times, and no avalanche safety gear is required.
- If your desire is to access terrain outside the resort boundaries into uncontrolled terrain (backcountry) you need to alternatively book a Whiteroom Guided day with one of our professionally accredited Whiteroom Guides. The ability requirement for Private Guiding is: High Intermediate and above in powder and trees.
